Well, to start out, you must understand that there are some people who are just meant to find each other in life. People who are so oddly similar, yet vastly different that they can not help but become friends. Without one, the other is lost. Such was the case of the classic friendship of Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz. No matter how crazy Lucy's ideas were, Ethel always somehow managed to be sucked into Lucy's madness. They always had an adventure in every thirty minute episode.
Audrey's obsession with "I Love Lucy" began at a young age and she shared this obsession with me when we became roommates our freshman year of college. It wasn't until our sophomore year that we realized the similarities between this famous television friendship and our own.
You see, Ethel and Lucy constantly found themselves in crazy predicaments. Audrey and I often find ourselves in situations that would ONLY happen to us (more on that later..), and about 99% of the time, it's my fault. Thus, I, Kelsi Cunningham, am Lucy Ricardo. I am scatter-brained, impulsive, and to be quite honest, I don't usually think things through.
Audrey, on the other hand, is border-line obsessive compulsive, logical, and is usually the voice of reason in our apartment. Audrey, like Ethel, often gets dragged into my "predicaments." Or other times, she simply finds enjoyment in laughing at my antics.
I will leave you with one example for the day:
Just the other day we were cooking dinner (we've started a new trend of cooking healthy dinners together every night). We were making chicken on the stove, and about 5 minutes into our cooking I turned to Audrey and asked her if she smelled something burning. Audrey proceeded to investigate where the smell was coming from.
Meanwhile, I tried to figure out why my chicken wasn't cooking.
All of the sudden it occurred to me that I had turned on the wrong burner and was currently cooking the cutting board that I had used to cut the chicken. Our kitchen smelled like burnt plastic and, needless to say, my cutting board is now partially melted on one side and will forever be a reminder of my stupidity. Much like the tattoo on the toaster oven...but we will save that for next week's episode. Stay tuned.
Y'all are adorable!
